A note from the chapter president Judy Roberson:
It's so hopeful for me to follow the happenings at the UC
Davis Stem Cell Program. Director, Jan Nolta, PhD, is doing
research on Huntington's disease and preparing for a future
clinical trial using adult stem cells called MSCs. The GMP
Facility has just been completed inside the UC Davis
Institute for Regenerative Cures building on the UC Davis
Sacramento campus. GMP stands for Good Manufacturing
Practices; this facility is the only GMP located in Northern
California. Under the direction of Dr. Gerhard Bauer,
FDA-grade stem cells will be produced to treat diseases in
humans. Learn more about it by clicking on the link below.

Hdsa Advocacy
Nearly everyone affected by HD has trouble obtaining
disability benefits. HDSA is leading a national campaign to
address this problem, and we need your help!
A bill in Congress, HR 678,
The Huntington’s Disease Parity Act of 2009 would
revise the current Social Security Administration (SSA)
guidelines for determining disability caused by HD. It
would also eliminate the two-year waiting period to receive
Medicare benefits after a disability determination is made
by SSA. If enacted
into law, HR 678 would
significantly improve the lives of everyone affected by
HD.
